A connected community is one where everyone can get where they need to go safely, independently, and with dignity. Whether it's getting to work, school, medical appointments, or simply visiting family and friends, reliable and accessible transportation is essential.
As someone who has served on both the Huntsville Accessibility Advisory Committee and District Accessibility Advisory Committee, I've seen firsthand the importance of removing barriers and ensuring our community is accessible to residents of all ages and abilities. While we've made progress, there's still more work to do.
As your Ward Councillor, I will advocate for:
🚌 Expanding transit routes to better serve areas experiencing growth and new residential development in Huntsville-Chaffey.
♿ Expanding and improving Huntsville's modified transit service so it better meets the needs of residents who rely on accessible transportation.
🚆 Strengthening regional transit connections, including services like the Northland Bus, the Northlander Train and the Corridor 11 Bus, to improve access within and beyond our community.
🛖 Supporting the installation of more covered bus shelters to make public transit safer and more comfortable in every season.
🌲 Working with the District of Muskoka to expand Direct Rapid Transit into parts of rural Huntsville, improving transportation options for more residents.
Accessibility and transit aren't just about infrastructure—they're about opportunity, independence, and ensuring everyone can fully participate in community life. By planning for the future today, we can build a Huntsville that is more connected, more inclusive, and works for everyone.
I'd love to hear from you. What improvements to accessibility or transit would make the biggest difference in your daily life?
